Happy Holidays!

The holidays are here!!! It's amazing how quickly this year has gone by and now that Thanksgiving has come and gone and the hustle and bustle of Holiday season has begun! That means it's time to get in gear!

We are currently busy refinishing a bunch of pieces so let me know if there is something in particular you are looking for or if you have a piece you'd like refinished before the end of the year!!! It would be great to check that off your list and start the new year fresh!!

We are also very excited as we will be showing off some of our refinished pieces for sale at the Red River Market Place event on December 17th and 18th!!! So come on out and enjoy our booth and see what our work looks like in person!!

Upholstery Adventure

About two months ago I was at my favorite little shop and in the back corner noticed some gorgeous French chair frames that I just had to have! The shop owner said that somebody had found these chairs in pieces in a box on the side of the road! She and her husband reassembled them. I bought two chairs that were literally raw wood (no paint, stain, etc) and just the chair frame (no cushion, no cushion base). I knew there would be some work to get them into condition worthy of use, but as with anything else, I saw this as a challenge I would conquer!

The first step was having a friend's husband cut out a wood base for my cushion area for each chair! From there I used foam, batting and gorgeous cream and tan striped silk in combination with a trusty staple gun and I started upholstering!!
I love the end result! It's so luxurious and elegant! My next step is create a back to the chair and upholster that with the same material! I love that this chair went from being just trash on the side of the road to an elegant treasure at my dining table! It's amazing what a little tlc can do!

If you find yourself with a chair that you'd like refinished and reupholstered do not hesitate to ask! We'd be glad to transform your chair into an elegant treasure at your table!

Treasure Hunting!!

Saturday was such a beautiful day and a great day to go treasure hunting! So with a trailer and a dear friend, we headed southbound for the Dallas area in search of some great finds!

The first stop on our list was a place called Discount Home Warehouse. This place is awesome and no matter what you are looking for, I would bet they have it!! They salvage items from some pretty neat places (mansions, estates, etc)! Anything from marble fire place mantles, huge doors, shutters, gates, lighting fixutres, etc. You name it, they have it and then some!
From there we ventured over to the Frisco Mercantile where there is booth after booth of some pretty amazing stuff! In fact, the salvage place we started at had a booth here and I was able to pick up some amazing cypress wood doors from a mansion in New Orleans that I will be keeping for myself. Here's a picture of what I did with them! We picked up some other fun items at Frisco Mercantile, like Annie Sloans chalk paint-which I will write about once I try it out!
After these two "planned" stops we decided to get crazy and just drive around to discover new places to go! We stumbled across the Frisco Resale Center that had treasure after treasure and proceeds go to a great cause! Makes it much more enjoyable to buy an item and refinish it with care and know that in the end you could have a piece with lots of love in it! Kind of like you're own custom painted reminder of love and kindness in people! I take great pride in finding quality furniture to refinish and sell and knowing that buying a piece to refinish has helped benefit someone else puts a smile on my face!
So all in all we had a wonderful day! Got to plan a couple stops and see some amazing things! We also got to explore a bit and met some great friendly people! Now to refinish the pieces bought and let someone else enjoy them and their history! Until our next adventure.....

Hutch Refinish

We were hired to refinish a hutch that a client had picked up at a garage sale and somebody had started to paint it white and gave up.

The hutch was completely transformed and we were able to discover gorgeous wood that was restained on the counter area and the back of the hutch was painted faux wood! The overall hutch was very lightly distressed and we are super pleased with the outcome!
